ENUGU VARSITY SACKS HOD, 4 OTHERS OVER MAL-PRACTICE
The authorities of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) yesterday sacked four lecturers and a non-academic staff following their alleged involvement in various forms of mal-practices which if tolerated would undermine the reputation of the institution.
The affected lecturers and a computer operator were accused of being involved in alteration of students’ grades.
A statement signed by the Director of Public relations, Ossy Ugwuoti and made available to newsmen Wednesday said the affected staff belonged to the department of Computer Engineering of the university.
The statement listed the affected staff as Engineer Ibiyemi Ariyo, a senior lecturer, Dr Ikechukwu Onah, Lecturer 11, Engineer Chikezie Samuel Aneke, an assistant lecturer, Engineer Nnamdi Okomba, an assistant lecturer and Mrs. Christy Okoro, a computer operator.
According to the release, one of the lecturers, Dr Onah who was the Head of the Department of Computer Engineering at the time was said to have engaged the others in the alteration of the grades submitted to him by lecturers during the computation of final year results.
The ESUT Governing Council at its 129th Regular meeting warned that sever disciplinary action would always be visited on any staff of the university involved in any form of academic fraud
